Noteringar
Johan is listed with his parents on the Husfor. in Ostanboke until he married Bengta and moved to Rynarp where Bengta had been since 1882. He arrived in New York on 28 May 1887 with his brother Sven (according to a petition for citenzenship in 1898). He travelled to Monson Village, Maine on the 30th probably where he went to work in the stone quarries (Betty Rice has a train ticket that must have been Johan's). After some months, they moved to Boston, found new jobs, and sent for his wife and child. His wife and son left from Ostanboke, Sweden for MA on 10 Sept 1888. He later sent for Bengta's mother and possibly his father and two sisters. Johan was successful in the real estate business. Later, he and his family moved from MA to CA in 1923. Johan and Bengta were known as John and Betty.

He lived with his family at 110 Brookline, Cambridge, MA in 1900 and 1910, and at 784 Belmont, Watertown in 1920. Philip reports that Johan built and lived in the house at 780 Belmont St. He also built a two family house at 774 and 776 where Carl and Jennie lived for many years. Now Sandra Corsi lives at 774 and Betty Rice lives at 776. In Los Angeles, John and Betty lived on Smiley Drive.

From Phil: Your ggpa, Johan, prided himself on being a keen trader and in particular of getting the better of the deal. He bought a horse to pull his grocery wagon through the streets of Cambridge to bring ethnic foods to the considerable Swedish area there. He found he had to lead the blind horse, etc.
