Bengta was known as Betty Benson (or Bengtson) in the USA. She was the illegitimate daughter of Elna; her stepfather was Bengt Eriksson and her natural father is unknown. Elna married Bengt when she was about 14.

Elna and Bengta moved: from Kjellstorp to Enon in 1863,
from Enon back to Kjellstorp in 1864 where they are listed alone,
from Kjellstorp to Blackatorp in 1874 where Elna married Bengt. (Here is
the first time the name Nilsdotter is used. Was Nils her natural father?) She moved: from Blackatorp to Rynarp in 1882,
from Rynarp to Ostanboke in 1885 after marriage,
from Ostanboke to Mass. 10 Sep 1888 with son Karl to join Johan,
from Mass. to Calif. 1923 with Johan and her children.
